Michail Tamvakeras is a senior software engineer with a BSc degree in Computer Science and a MSc degree in Intelligent Information Systems. His desired application fields are computer graphics(including VR), computer vision and AI. He likes learning new software technologies and concepts in the mentioned areas. In his free time, he does sports like walking, running, cycling and swimming.
Michail has many years of programming experience in different programming languages like C/C++, C# and Python. He has a Greek nationality and was born and grew up in Germany in the city of Hannover.
In the year 2006, he moved to Greece and worked there in the city Thessaloniki as a software developer in C++ for embroidery operating systems. He then moved to a smaller town and was there responsible (full-time remote contract) for the technical support of telecommunication and internet systems for customers and companies in the region. In parallel in the year 2016 he completed his part-time study in Computer Science at the Hellenic Open University and completed also at the end of 2019 his master study (graduated as best student of the year) in Intelligent Information Systems at the Department of Information & Communication Systems Engineering of the University of the Aegean, after ending his work.
While working in the technical customer support, he never ceased to deal with the software development and he continually learns new technologies by watching online courses, reading books and research papers. In 2018 he began to work as a freelance software developer and earned August of the same year after completing an online course for VR software development at Udacity, the Virtual Reality Nanodegree Developer (VRND) certificate. Subsequently he then received there an online mentor job, which he carried out until the end of 2019. As an online mentor, he supported students during the elaboration of the lessons and the course assignments. In 2020 after a state selection procedure of the Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection (ASEP) he started working for an eight-month fixed-term contract as a GIS software engineer at the Municipal Enterprise for Water, Drainage and District Heating in northern Greece. After ending his work, in the same year he started the one-year study at the university of higher pedagogical and applied sciences (ASPAITE - EPPAIK), to achieve the educational authorization which is required for teaching computer science at state professional schools and high schools in Greece.
